The service period Chief of Police of Malaysia, Tan Sri Ismail Omar is resumed for another 2 years. The Chief of Police services is expected to end on this 17th May is resumed after the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (The Supreme Ruler) of Malaysia gave a royal consent to renew the contract. The Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak also agrees on the matter. The matter was announced by Home Minister, Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hussein.

Tan Sri Ismail Omar, 58 originated from Kulim, Kedah holds a degree in Bachelor of Laws from International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM). He started his career in PDRM as a Trial Inspector on 15th December 1971. He was appointed as the Chief of Police of Selangor on 16th October 2006. He was appointed as Director of the Department of Management on 25th June 2007. He was appointed as the Deputy Chief of Police of Malaysia on 13th November 2007 before been appointed as the Chief of Police of Malaysia on 13th September 2010 replacing Tan Sri Musa Hassan.
