Tengku Ampuan Bariah died

HRH Tengku Ampuan Bariah, died around 1.30am early this day at Hospital Seri Kota, Klang, Selangor. Tengku Ampuan Bariah, was a princess of almarhum Sultan Hishamuddin Alam Shah, married with Almarhum Sultan Mahmud al-Muktafi Billah Shah of Terengganu. She was the Tengku Ampuan Besar (Queen) of Terengganu from 1979 – 1998. She is a stepmother to the reigning Yang di-Pertuan Agong (The Supreme Ruler) of Malaysia, HM Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin.

The body of the former Queen was sent to Istana Maziah before been put to rest according to the Royal Custom of Terengganu at Royal Mausoleum Masjid Al-Muktafi Billah, Ladang, Terengganu. The Mausoleum is also where the tomb of almarhum Sultan Mahmud Al-Muktafi Billah Shah is located.
