Assalamualaikum and Peace be upon all of you
Welcome to my blog

Today, I see an interesting news when I read the newspaper this morning. A person claimed to be the Sultan of Sulu, Datu Mudarasulail Kiram are searching for sponsorship to built the lost Palace of Sulu, the Palace of Darul Jambangan. The Sultanate of Sulu has been a very popular discussing topic especially if we studied the history of Sabah. The Sultanate of Sulu is also one of many Muslims Sultanate ruled the region. If we studied the history of Sabah, the leased agreement between the Sultan of Sulu and the North Borneo Chartered Company is widely known. At its peak, the Sultanate is among the region strongest Sultanate, able to repel Spanish attacks for many years.

Nevertheless, the once strong Sultanate has decline and currently become one of the provinces in the Philippines located in the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao, ARMM. The throne currently disputed by many pretenders, either by legitimate or fake heirs. Today topic will cover the Sultanate in the eastern part of Malaysia,

The Lost Sultanate

Unlike any other Malay Sultanate where the throne is inherited by the oldest son of the Sultan, the Sulu Throne have similarities with the Perak Succession, where the throne is share by Two Royal Families, The Heir and The Successor (Pewaris dan Penyambung).

  1. The First Heir (Decendant of Sultan Azimuddin / Alimuddin I ibni Sultan Badaruddin I )consist of Kiram Family and Shakiraullah Family.
  2. The Second Successor. (decendant of Sultan Bantilan Muizzuddin)
    known as Maharaja Adinda family.

The existence of this two successor are depicted in the Sulu’s Flag :-

The Official Palace of Sultan of Sulu is the famous Istana Darul Jambangan. The palace was destroyed and currently still not rebuilt.

Sultan Jamalul Kiram II

The last Sultan of Sulu Darul Jambangan was Sultan Jamalul Kiram II. After the death of Sultan Jamalul Kiram II in 1936, the throne supposed be passed to the Maharaja Adinda Family. But, the Sultan Mawallil Wasit (younger brother of Sultan Jamalul Kiram II) ascends the throne instead. Sultan Mawallil Wasit died after 6 months due to poisoning. On 20th September 1937 memorandum, The Philippines Government announces that they will not recognize any heirs after Sultan Jamalul Kiram II as the Sultan of Sulu.

As for today, there is no legitimate Sultan of Sulu. And to make the matter worse, there are officially 97 individuals proclaimed themselves as the Sultan of Sulu and they are scattered all around Sulu and Sabah. Not to mention, the Sulu Datukship is also been given to many individuals especially in Malaysia.

Currently, the Pretender to the throne is held by Datu Ali Kuyung. It is agreed until all the self-proclaim Sultan of Sulu convened and proclaimed one most suitable heir as the Sultan of Sulu according to the Sulu Royal Institution, other heirs of the royal family are forbidden to used the title HRH The Sultan of Sulu. Datu Ali Kuyung also mark a new history to the Sulu Royal Family as he manage to unite the members of the royal family. And now, only time will determine the fate of the Sultanate of Sulu.

To: Mr. Radin,

I just want to correct the fact about the Istana Darul Jambangan.

Istana Darul Jambangan was destroyed by the Typhoon in 1929.(*Not in 1932, as other pretender statement, and not destroyed by fire).

Salam.

MR. RADIN,

DID YOU EVER MADE A THOROUGH RESEARCH BEFORE GOING FORWARD OF THE RECENT SULTANATE OF SULU AND NORTH BORNEO KINGDOM PRESENT STATUS ? I WOULD LIKE TO CONTRIBUTE TO LOOK AT - www.sultanatesulu.org , WHERE YOU CAN FIND EXACT RATIONALE BASED ON HISTORICAL FACTS NOT MYTH OR HEARSAY: IT IS UNDERSTOOD THAT THE PURPOSE OF THE AMERICAN SPONSORED PHILIPPINE REPUBLIC IS TO DESTROY THE HIERARCHY TO AVOID FURTHER CLAIM BY THE SULTANATE KINGDOM. IT WAS TRUE THAT POLITICAL POWER OF THE SULTANATE WAS DIMINISHED BY BOTH BRITISH AND AMERICA THROUGH THEIR DUMMY NAMELY MALAYSIA AND PHILIPPINES. TO THIS DAY ,THE SULTANATE IS STANDING TALL UNDER TRADITIONAL AND CULTURAL GOVERNANCE OF LEGITIMATE SULTAN OF SULU HRH SULTAN ESMAIL D. KIRAM II ( www.sulu.gov.ph/history ) ACKNOWLEDGE BY INTERNATIONAL COMISSION OF AND ASSOCIATION ON NOBILITY ( www.nobility-association.com )GIVEN COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD BY PRESIDENT OBAMA.

THE REST OF RELATIVE CLAIMING SULTANS ARE BOGUS AS PER 1939 BRITISH HIGH COURT OF NORTH BORNEO DECISSION THAT THE HEIR OF SABAH IS THE SON OF SULTAN MAWALIL WASIT ,SULTAN PUNJUNGAN KIRAM PASSED DOWN TO THE CURRENT AND REIGNING SULTAN HRH SULTAN ESMAIL D. KIRAM II . THIS CLAIM IS DOCUMENTED AND ARCHIVED IN WASHINGTON D.C. AND THE BRITISH ARCHIVE.

@ anynonymous #2;

First of all, thanks for reply to my post. About all the refferences website that you have writen here, i have checked them before i wrote the article. And, I have aware about other claiming Sultans including Esmail D. Kiram II.

In this case, I take a neutral stances. I don't want to give any irresponsible comment as my respect to the Sulu Royal Family.
As my refferences, I take Ibnurusydi.blogspot.com due to its neutrality and he also has noted the existance of other Sultan including Esmail D Kiram II.
